Κώστας Ζημέρης Κώστας Ζημέρης

Kostas Zimeris born in 1886 in Katichori Pelion. He graduated from the Commercial School of Volos, where he took his first lessons from the famous painter John Poulaka. In 1904 went to America where he worked in photo labs, working with artists and photographers. There was an opportunity to study at the School of Arts in Saint Louis. Returns in 1912 and enlisted, in the period of the Balkan wars, after the First World War, he remained in Athens, working with major photographers Buka and Nelly's. Thereafter return to Volos occupied professionally with photography and painting.
He participated in many exhibitions in Greece and abroad, as in 1925 in Calais, France, in 1926 in Liverpool, England, while received the Gold Award at the International Exhibition of Thessaloniki in 1932 and 1936.
His work was recognized and commented favorably such in the Athenian as in the French press. K. Zimeris died at the age of 96 years.
The artistic sensibility and the passion of a man guarded forever in photographic plates some of the lost beauty of our land, thus keeping forever in the history of images of an era that no longer exist.
