Lauren Cook

Lauren Cook grew up on a family farm in the Midwestern United States. Her interests in cross-cultural studies and international development brought her to Washington D.C..  As an artist, Ms. Cook work is informed by her rural heritage, and her appreciation for nature and for ancient world cultures. Interested in sharing her love of art with young people, she joined the art faculty at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School where she currently heads the visual arts department and teaches Advanced Placement Studio Art as well as other art courses.  Ms. Cook holds a Masters of Art in Art Education from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland, a Masters of Business Administration from George Washington University, Washington, D.C., and a Bachelor of Philosophy from Grand Valley University, Michigan.  She served two terms on the board of the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, Maryland, and chaired the Arts in Education Committee.  Ms. Cook lives in Washington, D.C. and Skiathos, Greece.

Ms. Cook's art has been exhibited in numerous group and solo shows and in the Art in Embassies program of the U.S. Department of State.  Her recent shows include exhibits at the University of Maryland University College and Orchard Art Gallery.  Her professional memberships include the International Society for Education through Art, the National Art Education Association and the Maryland Art Education Association.
