Architectural Elements

The simple and usable architecture of Skiathos, like that of the Sporades in general, is very different from traditional Cycladic architecture.

Most houses of the town have porches, "tsates" decorated with tiles and necessary element inside is the fireplace. The architecture of island combines elements from the architecture of Pilio with traditional and neoclassical architectural elements of Skiathos. Narrow streets of stone slabs separating the houses of the town and Kastro, that one period hosted the residents.

Special architectural buildings, which dominate and stand out in any area, are churches, monasteries and chapels. Scattered around the island come across of oil-lamps, small shrines on the roadside.

In very beautiful landscapes in different locations, we meet and now their traditional sources with running crystal water, where they can cool down and rest passers.
