The female costume of Skiathos according to George A. Riga Economou in his work Popular Culture consists of the following parts:


-Shirts, the most important and necessary part of it reaches an inch below the knees, its characteristic is the wide sleeves. The front part that covers the breast of the woman called jabot, all part from the waist to below said apron. Depending on the fabrics that are made are divided into:

Handling cotton, where the cotton yarn was spine by females.

‘Triplikenia’, from ‘tripikenio’ fabric that the edges had ‘triplikenies’ ounces, other embroidered and other not embroidered.

Fake silk, from woven cloth and silk embroidered and always embroidered.

‘Olovrochina’ of silk and ‘vrocho’, always embroidered.

‘Skepitika’, mantle from silk, always embroidered.

-Jersey, consisting of ‘mana’ and ‘skoutes’, joined with ‘mana’ in the front part which it is torn.


-Socks, knitting with needles from cotton thread, the woolen called ‘tsourapia’.


-Pants from ‘cheirisio’ or ‘tiriplikenio’ or ‘chasedenio’ fabric.


-Fur, experts’ tailors sewed, made of felt or velvet, in black or brown or deep green, can be short or long. The long reaches to the hips, buttoned with a woven button at the neck, on sleeves and armholes are decorated with black cordons and black tichrilia., the decoration is called rigging, the short reach to the waist, it snaps anywhere and armor is richer, short fur worn by young ones.

- ‘Bampoukli’, of red velvet, green or purple, it has all the chest was open to show the neck from a gold-embroidered shirt and fastens with two small woven buttons at the bottom front part. It is decorated with gold cordons on sleeves, neck, on the front opening, shoulders and armholes, the sleeves are slit at the end and inside is coated with gold-weave fabric and ‘bakoulia’ sewed experts’ tailors.


-‘Kouzouka’, usually of green velvet or golden fabric, used to wear them over ‘bampoukli’, had no sleeves and the front was open


-Skirt, from woven silk or wool or cloth, the silk is ‘atlazenio’ from satin, this is the best and is colored red or dark brown, or black. The skirt consisted of two parts, up part and ‘mpoi’, the front ‘panokormi’ is open to display the shirt, the ‘mpoi’ consisting of several sheets joined with the up part after strain.


-‘Tsaprakia’ and belt, the belt is always gold and has at the ends two ‘tsaprakia’, ‘tsaprakia’ are silver or gold plated with decorations

-‘Zounari’ silk scarf colored or plain, the use of varied as appropriate and knotting is always forward.

-Footwear for the official visits and generally when the woman is adorned with good costume wear high shoes, ‘stivalia’, loafers. When were in the house adorned wore the ‘kontoures’, which they bought from Istanbul or Thessaloniki, ‘kontoures’ was a kind of slipper completely opened at the back, without a heel and the front part was of gold-weave fabric. In the women's dance of ‘Kamara’ was necessary to wearing ‘kontoures’.


-Jewelers, small earrings, bracelets, brooches, which were used to fasten the top of the neck embroidered with gold in shirts, and ‘koulaina’ was a necklace with delicate gold chain on which hung gold coins.
